Abstract. A comprehensive survey of CAI is given first with historical progress and promising tendencies. Summarized evolution of geography education software is analyzed further with the help of various technology's demonstrations for its promotion. This article details the GIS application in geography education theoretically and practically. Finally, analysis of 46 samples of software is presented in the panoramic view of synthesized feature, representation and education function. Possible direction and status are proposed after the fundamental review of the existing software's pitfall and characteristics.
